Congratulations to our YSISS PJ Bahasa Melayu and Bahasa Inggeris debate teams for their outstanding performance at the Premier of Sarawak Debate Challenge State Level 2025, held from 17th to 20th October. From 7–9 October 2025, YSISS Kuching celebrated Minggu Bahasa Melayu with a series of exciting and meaningful activities that showcased our students’ creativity, teamwork, and love for the national language. Programme Highlights:• Misi Kembara Bahasa Melayu – Students explored fun language challenges that tested their knowledge, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.• Sayembara Bicara Berirama – Teams from all sport houses impressed the audience with powerful voices and inspiring performances centred on the theme of Unity.• Closing Ceremony (Pementasan Sketsa Muzikal) – The week concluded with a spectacular performance of “Puteri Santubong & Puteri Sejinjang”, in collaboration with the Performance Arts and Culture Club (PACC) and Amanah Khairat Yayasan Budaya Melayu Sarawak (AKYBMS), celebrating Sarawak’s rich legends and cultural heritage. Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School, Kuching proudly organised History Week 2025 in conjunction with Hari Malaysia, embracing the national theme “Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni.” The two-day educational programme aimed to deepen students’ appreciation of Malaysia’s history, heritage, and unity through a series of academic and cultural activities. Highlights included the Madani Challenge, the Sport House Booth Competition, and a special Choir Performance, marking the school’s first-ever choir appearance with a rendition of Malaysia Madani: Rakyat Disantuni. Students from Ruby Rhinos, Emerald Eagles, Sapphire Sharks, and Tourmaline Tigers showcased outstanding creativity through their vibrant booths reflecting Malaysia’s cultural diversity, with Tourmaline Tigers emerging as the overall winners. Three teams from YSISS Sibu proudly participated in the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2025, held physically at UTS Sibu on 4th and 5th October. The 48-hour global hackathon encouraged participants to use NASA’s open data to create innovative solutions for real-world challenges related to Earth and space.Team Blackstar Phantom developed MODIS TERRA Animation for the Animation Celebrating of Terra Data challenge, SuperNovas created The Asteroid Defense Initiative for Meteor Madness, and The Zenith designed Stellar Stories, a creative storybook under the Space Weather Through the Eyes of Earthlings challenge.The Sarawak Space Challenge (SSC) served as the local hub for the event, connecting participants from Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri.
